Optical Excitation

Bring a localized optical stimulus into the microscope while the experiment defines what gets measured.

Tabletop SEM · SEM/FIB · S/TEM · Custom Vacuum

An onboard pulser is standard on this system, enabling pulse widths as short as 50 ns with compatible CW lasers.

Vesta Provides Optical access and stimulus
Microscope Provides Electron imaging or spectroscopy

Why It Matters

Stimulus Is Not The Measurement.

Vesta delivers light to the region being examined. Electron images, spectra, and installed detectors can then reveal the response to that optical stimulus. The excitation source, timing, and detection method are selected for the experiment.

What This Enables

Application Capabilities.

Laser excitation where the optical path supports it

SEM/FIB, tabletop SEM, S/TEM, or custom routes reviewed separately

Point-of-analysis alignment discussions

Support for light-driven material response studies

Custom detector, synchronization, and environment needs scoped during review

Careful scoping for coherent or ultrafast experiments

Platform Fit

Microscope Options

Final fit depends on microscope geometry, optical access, sample environment, safety requirements, and the measurement goal.
